Re:  Annual AHERA Notification

ANNUAL AHERA NOTIFICATION

The Colts Neck Township Board of Education would like to inform all parents, teachers, and employees that copies of the Asbestos Management Plans are kept on file within the Operations Department/ Front Office of each School location for your review during normal school hours.

The district’s six-month periodic surveillance reports are completed twice per year, as required by the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). Additionally, various operations and maintenance activities are conducted by certified staff at the district’s facilities.

Nicholas Moretta, CEFM is a licensed Asbestos Inspector and Planner. He completes annual refreshers and has a wide knowledge of Asbestos in Schools. An Asbestos Inspector/ Planner certifies individuals to survey, identify and assess the condition of asbestos and asbestos containing material to record and report the results for an asbestos project. An asbestos planner is trained and licensed to be able to develop the written program for managing asbestos containing materials identified during the asbestos building inspection.

Limited, if any, abatement activities have been conducted at various board facilities during the past year.  Reports are available for review at the Operations Department during normal business hours.

Should you have any questions, please contact this office.
