Transition to Schools Health Insurance Fund (SHIF)

The Colts Neck Township Board of Education will be enrolling in coverage with the Schools Health Insurance Fund (‘SHIF') through Aetna for medical, Express Scripts for prescription and Aetna for vision. The new plans will offer coverage that is guaranteed to be ‘equal to or better than' the current plans offered under Horizon.

  • All pre-existing conditions will be covered by any of the new plans offered.
  • Dependent children are covered through the end of the calendar year in which they turn 26.
  • Copays, deductibles & coinsurance will remain the same for all plans.
  • All employees will receive their new ID Cards in the mail prior to January 1, 2021.
  • Nothing will be needed from you to enroll, as all prior enrollments will carry over to the appropriately matching Medical/Rx/Vision plan.
  • For any authorizations currently in place for a procedure or a prescription on or after January 1, 2021, please contact Brown & Brown Benefit Advisors for further instructions.
  • For any mail order prescriptions, new scripts will be required.
  • Dental Plans are NOT Changing at this time.
