Annual Election Information


This year’s Annual School Election will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  Voters will be able to cast their ballots at their applicable polling sites between the hours of 6:00 am to 8:00 pm to elect three members to the Colts Neck Township Board of Education.  In order to vote in the Annual School Election, residents must be:


  • At least 18 years of age
  • Be a United States citizen
  • have been living in the state and county for 30 days
  • have been registered to vote at least 21 days before the election


The last day to register for the November 6, 2018 election is Tuesday, October 16, 2018.

Voting by Mail: 

Applications for vote-by-mail ballots are available at the County Clerk’s Office, 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold, NJ.   Applications may also be obtained at the Colts Neck Board of Education Administration Building, 70 Conover Road, Colts Neck.   Vote-by-Mail applications must be received by Tuesday, October 30, 2018.  The deadline to apply in-person for a vote-by-mail ballot is 3:00 pm on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the County Clerk’s Office.

A Voter may apply for a Mail-In Ballot by mail up to 7 days prior to the election.

Board of Education Vacancies and Frequently Asked Questions


The Colts Neck Township Board of Education currently has three (3) vacancies (3 – Three-Year Terms) for the November 6, 2018 Annual School Board Election.  Nominating Petitions are now available for Colts Neck Township residents interested in becoming a Board of Education member through the Office of the County Clerk, Election Office located at 300 Halls Mill Road, Freehold, NJ 07728.


Each candidate for election, including an incumbent, must be nominated directly by petition, signed by at least ten persons (one of whom may be the candidate).  Each nominating petition must state the following:

  • That the signers are qualified district voters
  • The name, residence and post office address of the candidate and the office for which the candidate is endorsed
  • That the signers endorse the candidate and ask that his or her name be printed on the ballot
  • That the candidate is legally qualified to be a school board member

One of the signers must make a sworn statement that the petition is prepared in good faith, which he or she saw all of the signatures included in the petition and that he or she believes that the signers are duly qualified voters.  With the nominating petition, the candidate must include a signed statement certifying that he or she is qualified to be a school board member, consents to be a candidate, and will accept the office if elected.


The deadline for filing Nominating Petitions with the County Clerk is 4:00 pm on Monday, July 30, 2018.
